[Sam was so flustered! It just made Dio laugh, a large hand slapping down on Sam.]

Oh, come on now, Sam. You know I've no heart to speak of.

[Being around him did make the aching void of nothingness inside of him go numb, but Dio wasn't sure why. He assumed it was the sex.]

And what of Jonathan? What I have with him is unique, as is what I have with you.

[ Yeah, about that question of who uses who for sex...

Sam jumps under the clap of the other's hand, looking more and more confused by the second. ]

But--you like...him? As in. Um. Doing stuff and wanting to be a-around him right???

[Dio's turn to be confused now. He tilts his head to a side, but gives Sam's shoulder a squeeze.]

I guess. But what does that have to do with anything? I can enjoy sex and companionship from Jonathan and you as well. Having one does not diminish the other.

Wait, so....are you saying you wanna date me, or no?

[Ugh! Why did he have to put it that way?! Dio doesn't date. I mean he COULD, but he doesn't.]

Perhaps I would like to court you. Hmph!

You can't date someone who's already dating someone else though! [ Come on Dio HOW MUCH DOES HE HAVE TO TEACH YOU. ]

And besides, I already told Mikado I'd have you, but that I wouldn't take you from him to do it. He seemed to be alright with that.

He what?! [ MIKADO WHAT ARE YOU DOING ]

Yeah, he said it was fine. [Alright so maybe he said it was Sam's choice, but he didn't exactly object when Dio straight up told him that he wanted to collect the both of them.]

[ Dio you really need to explain yourself better instead of making it sound like Mikado is A-OK with sharing him with Dio dating-wise. ]

He said you could c--trying to date me?!

[That is definitely where he is taking this, ok.]

Yes. He said I could have you both. [SMILE SMILE SMILE. That wasn't exactly the conversation, but it was close enough to Dio.]

W--wait! But I didn't say you could have him too...! [ He worked so hard and waited so long for Mikado to say they could date, and now he's just...giving Dio permission too??? ]

I've had him for a long time, Sam. You're just lucky I'm letting you have him.

Y....you two are dating?!

[Was that really the only kind of relationship that Sam could think of?]

It's complicated. [Going to just go ahead and not say that he claimed ownership of Mikado as a blood donor.]

[ D I O you are making things so much worse??? ]

But I...he... [ Sam is starting to look kind of heartbroken here Dio W2G ]

[Wow why was Sam so upset? Dio hasn't even said anything mean.]

He's a good enough kid. He'll make you happy, I guess. [Because he has to say something nice about Mikado here, right? Though he doesn't really believe for a moment that he actually cares for Sam, so he wouldn't say that.]

And he's very important to me too, so you'd better take good care of him.

[Okay that one was just a joke. Though he supposed he DID tell Masaomi that he'd protect Mikado, so maybe that'd help him do that.]

But...but I want him to date just me.....!

[ LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE, DIO. Look what you've done. ]

He didn't even tell me he was with you!

[Oh. Oh no. Don't cry, Sam! Now it's Dio's turn to feel like an ass. Dio rushed in to grab at Sam's shoulders, pecking at his face with little kisses.]

Shhh, Sam...! It's okay, we aren't dating! I said it was complicated. [And it is! It is very much complicated.]

Truth is, I don't even think he cares for me, but. Yes, it's complicated.

Y, you're really not...dating? Promise? [ If only Dio had stated that from the beginning and told him it wasn't dating. God. Sam might not be crying outright and proper, but he had the biggest and wettest eyes right now. ]

I promise. [Well he'd never SAID he WAS dating him, gosh! Fill in your own blanks why dontcha?

Well Dio was going to continue giving him light kisses.]

But you should really get used to the idea of not being exclusive, physically or emotionally. With our requirements, it's hard to detach from people.

[ It's the kisses. The kisses here are the comfort. And shut up you know what you made it sound like. ]

I...I know we have to do stuff but I wanted that [ the dating ] to be just us...

[Well, that was enough kissing now. Dio was discouraged, he guessed, and let go of Sam.]
